About Me

Current Projects:
Research Assistant and Student Researcher at the Roots to Wellness Research Lab, Community Health Facilitator, and Certified Workshop Facilitator

Community & Connections:
I am a proud member of the Pasqua First Nation in Saskatchewan, deeply rooted in my community. My work and connections span Indigenous organizations and community initiatives, reflecting both the resilience of my people and my own lived experiences. As an intergenerational residential school survivor and an abuse survivor, I carry forward the legacy and challenges of past traumas. These experiences have deepened my commitment to working with and for Indigenous communities, fostering healing and cultural renewal.

Experience, Education & Skills:
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Business Administration Diploma, and a Certificate in Reconciliation Studies from the First Nations University of Canada. I am currently pursuing a master’s in educational psychology at the University of Regina. My professional journey includes roles as a research assistant at the Roots to Wellness Research Lab, teaching assistant, and mental health & wellness consultant. I am a certified facilitator for both the ASI “The Way” Program—focused on healthy relationships and domestic violence intervention—and the Fatherhood and Motherhood is Sacred Program. Additionally, as a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), I bring expertise in research, curriculum development, and culturally informed mental health support, all of which are enriched by my personal experiences as a survivor.

Current Projects:
At the Roots to Wellness Lab, I am actively involved in research dedicated to healing for Indigenous men and promoting cultural wellness. I facilitate group workshops, contribute to mental health and wellness training, and help develop curricula that integrate academic research with community-driven practices. These projects excite me as they embody the union of my academic pursuits and my passion for community healing.

Why This Work Matters:
My work is deeply personal. Having experienced the intergenerational impacts of residential schools and surviving abuse, I understand firsthand the need for culturally relevant healing and support. This work is not only about academic inquiry—it is a vital effort to break cycles of trauma, empower Indigenous voices, and create pathways for resilience and wellness within our community.

Personal Note:
I am driven by the strength and resilience of my community and the healing power of culturally grounded support. Beyond my professional endeavours, I cherish time spent travelling, exploring the outdoors, and learning from Elders and community members. These personal passions fuel my commitment to fostering a future where every member of our community can thrive.
